All these posts about cooking had me thinking of some funny times I had with the kids when they were little.

When I was homeschooling through grade school I was trying to find some fun activities for the kids to do with measuring. (daughter must have been in 3rd or 4th grade) I found a recipe for cubed fruit on skewers that looked easy and yummy so I turned to the kids to show  them the picture in the magazine and said, "look! we can make fruit shish-kabobs !" in my -be excited for this adventure -voice.

My son, who by this time was use to my ploys to teach by disguise, didn't look up to see the picture but looked at me in shock and said in his most disgusted voice...

"Mom, that's disgusting!... and you shouldn't be SWEARING!!!"

Ha, ha! he thought I said sh**- kabobs!

Then another time when we had moved from homeschooling & on to private school, my daughter had a multi-cultural activity at school & had to make something from her heritage. We chose to make potato biskets and fresh butter for Ireland.

Just as we were whipping the heavy cream to the point that it started to separate, she looked at me in horror and said, "Mother! Do you really have any idea what your doing???"

Oh the joys of motherhood! You know my dear children, just because I don't cook doesn't mean I don't know how!  LOL!

"no one ever died from my cooking...yet!"
